In Irish folklore there is the story of Aengus Og, who was visited nightly by the vision of a beautiful woman… Enchanted by this woman of his dreams, he searched and finally found her. Together they lived happily and in peace, his longing finally answered… Such is my quest. I am now 41 years old and the woman of my dreams still eludes my discovery, my own longing never at ease, never granting me rest. My soul burns with great enthusiasms and great devotions, I stand ready to spend myself on that worthy cause, that worthy one, yet I am muted for lack of finding her among the masses. I am here because I seek my heart’s longing... Like the Aengus Og of Irish folklore, I am looking for my own Caer Ibormeith. I am looking for that woman out there somewhere whose heart answers the call of that same deep rooted longing. I am waiting for that one inexplicable moment when we will cross paths, look at one another and just know… I long to meet that lady who shares my appreciation and zeal for experiencing all of life’s offerings, a lady who will be my equal, not to compete with me or complete me, but with whom we may mutually compliment and fulfill one another in a life long journey that is virtually limitless. It doesn’t interest me what she does for a living. I want to know what she aches for and if she dreams of meeting her heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old she is, I want to know if she will risk looking like a fool for love, for her dream, for the adventure of being alive! I am a successful professional but my greatest attribute is my depth of character. I can say with confidence that I am not like anyone you have ever met before. Although American by birth, I am of Irish/Dutch descent and I identify strongly with my Celtic heritage. I have a deep connection to nature and the earth and was even born on Beltane Day. My mother was born & raised in Holland so I am instilled with strong European values and modern European maturities. An author and poet, I could be described as a little European Renaissance and a little bit new age. I am adventurous and outgoing, worldly wise, open minded, uninhibited, reflective, compassionate and very perceptive. I have a great sense of humor, albeit sometimes reclusive but as I get comfortable it makes itself more apparent. I am not perfect, I have made serious mistakes in my life, but that is the continuous improvement process called learning. I seek balance in my surroundings and when it is absent, I seek change. While I believe it is true that without the darkness the candle has no worth; too much darkness and one stumbles over the furniture… I strongly feel that life is too short, and too precious, to spend it unhappy. My doctrine in life is to live it fully, to love well, and with deep intimacy every day. I dare to dream, and I am guided, sometimes driven, by an ache to take the necessary risks that will allow me to experience the exquisite beauty and the bone wrenching sorrow that is the adventure of being fully alive. In my leisure time, I enjoy many activities, most of which involve the outdoors; I love nature, SCUBA diving, piloting gliders, hiking, camping, day trips with a splash, cultural events like art walks & concerts, browsing book shops & antique stores. I love to cook, go wine tasting and take road trips to places like Sonoma, Tahoe or beyond. Basically, enjoying the pleasures of good company, good cuisine and good wine are three of my favorite pastimes.
